Irrefutable Evidence

It's widely believed that most parents hate to see their children grow up so quickly and sometimes refuse to believe the evidence in front of their eyes. I guess when the kids are in their 20's, married, and otherwise gone, we have to face the facts - they're grown.
However, in some rare instances, we want the growth process to go just a little faster. What, heresy, you say? Hear me out.
I give you the evidence below that definitely shows that our "little one" has not quite reached maturity yet. Judge for yourselves...

This used to be Montana's pad that he occasionally used as his "love muffin" - don't ask. But the mystery is there's a zipper here that he managed to undo. How, you ask? Easy - just chewed up the zipper and small area, stuck the big shnoz in and moved the zipper down. Amazing. In recent days, we'd thought that he would actually lay down on it - I know, a novel thought - but he did a few times with this particular item...

However, despite the fact that he's as big as a moose, and eats like a horse, we're just not seeing the maturity we'd hoped for (desperately...). His new nickname is Hoover - LOL. Need further evidence?

Yes, contrary to popular belief, sheetrock and wood are staples in a dog's diet, along with socks...
And here's Zoe's opinion on the matter...

That, BTW, is a meow, not a roar, as it would suggest...though trust me, she has that capability, also.
So there you have it...now can you blame me for wanting our "sweetie" to mature a little faster??
I thought you'd agree.
What can I say? I didn't even show his room. Suffice to say that two door jambs later, a couple of walls, some furniture, a phone wire, an electric blanket, and an odd assortment of socks, towels and paper, our house won't be the same for a while. You know, sort of like with your kids....

Yes, this is a stitching blog (mostly), and I do have a few finishes. This is Lisa's RR in the Friendship Sampler RR. Her piece and someone else's were kept by one of the stitchers and never to be seen again. Don't get me started on this one, but Lisa the Intrepid, jumped back in again and we're all trying to catch her up.

Also finished a freebie by Dahlia from the Anne-les-petites-croix website. It was very springy, so I changed the colors around to get this fall look. The Silkweaver fabric, Golden Promise, went really well, so now I'm trying to figure out how I want to finish it.

And finally, we do have a new member in our family, for whom I'm babysitting this weekend while my DD and SIL celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Has it really been a year already? Let me officially introduce Mya, a six pound pomeranian, with the energy of five three-year-olds. And yes, my DD put a girlie t-shirt on her and thoroughly enjoyed it. I swear I'm innocent of this travesty.

But she's a cutie. She loves Montana, albeit a little cautiously, and normally from the safety of Mom's presence, but he's not picky - he'll take what he can get.

Thanks for visiting and listening to my tales. Your friendships make it all worth while here in blogland. :)

I would take another look at the cat....I think your dog has been framed! Look at that sweet face...

Love the stitching and will have to check the freebie out.

ROFLMAO....It has been my experience while that breed of dog is VERY smart, they stay a puppy for a LOOOOOOOONG time.

The stitching looks fantastic and we do love to hear about the antics of the fur family too.

great stitching!

oooooooh Montana! your in big trouble! the walls look just like my fireplace and kitchen that Bella and Fannie have attacked as well. oh the joy of puppies. NOT!

What is it about dogs and what they can successfully chew up? I don't have dogs but my sister does and the stories are endless. Your dog is sure cute, that is something. At least he? isn't ugly.
I have cats, two and sometimes like tonight I would give my old Siamese away if it could. She just howls at night and wakes up my deaf mom, go figure.
Love your blog it is always nice to visit here. Your stitching is awesome.
Why do some people say they will stitch a RR and then never return to piece and then we all have to jump in and get one done? Been there and done that more than once. But they are fun aren't they?
Take care and thanks for coming by to see me.
God Bless ~
Lenna

Oh my goodness Carolyn, I cracked up reading your blog. Too funny.
I'm with Karen though. I say take a third look at Zoe. I think that cat is hiding something! ;)

Love the nickname Hoover and you say you had nothing to do with the 'girly' outfit on Mya? Suuuuuuure. :)

OMG!!! And Montana on the picture looks so sweet and cute, like he would never do things like that ;)

Love the cute little dog you are babysitting!

Great progresses on your stitching! I need to catch up with my stitching, I don't know why, but for some reason I don't make much progress.

Hugs,
Wendy

LOL- our dog had a love muffin when he was a pup so I know exactly what you mean. hee hee.. Guess yours and his had a lover's quarrel!! Cute furbabies and your stitching is looking great!

I paid $36 bucks for a pad for the dog's crate to make it more comfortable for her. And she chewed off the zipper and started eating the orthopedic foam. And just the other night, the dude said we should have named her Hoover. So I know where you are coming from! Bad news though. The big breeds usually take two years to mature. (So my in-between breed will take 1.5 yes??? she asks with hope and fear.)

Kathy said...

First I have to say thank you for my morning chuckles. Second I can empathize with your "child's" destructive problems. :) Ahhh, the teen years. Mine has just entered that stage. So far no ripped pillows or chewed woodwork. (I did have one that did that trick years ago.) But he is only 6 months and we have lots of time. :)

All I can say is crate training, chew toys and lots of luck! Especially since a golden isn't grown up until he is about 3! :) Stock up on patience. LOL

The stitching is gorgeous. I love the different colors each in the RR has choosen.

And I bet that little Mya is boss of Montana (I can't believe how big he got!). If not now than she will be before she goes home. The little ones are always bossy. :)

He, he, he. Aren't dogs great. Mine runs away from the neighborhood cat :)

I love to hear about your fur babies. Your stitching is beautiful.

He's a lab right?? It take a long time for them to mature. Chewing the house can get expensive, we used something with bitter apple in it and it worked right away. Don't remember the name of the product though, check you pet supply store. They are a joy and fun to watch.

Montana is such a love to behold, hard to stay mad at him for long! So typical though about the chewing everything in sight. My son has a puppy, and he has taken his wallet off of the side table and chewed it and the money! Everything else he can sink his incisors into gets his love as well!

Great stitching as always, Carolyn!

Montana looks sooo innocent, are you sure it wasn't the cat, just pretending to look all sweetness and light, and having a crafty yawn.

Montana is gorgeous.

Your stitching look great.

OH, our growing children! Looks like he may need a JOB to give him something to do and help pay for the damages! he he.

Love the look on kitty's face - You wouldn't put up with that from Moi.

How sweet she is. I don't typically 'dress' Pixie, but have an aunt who is adamant that she should be - three dresses in the last three months!

Great color conversion on your pretty stitching!!

Bad puppy, lol. That cat has quite the look!
Your stitching looks great

LOL, aren't "puppies" full of "fun"?! Ahh, the growing pains. Rene is right... that breed won't mature until they're at least 2 years old, if not a little longer. Cute Pom! Course, I'm partial since I have one too. :)

Nice work on the RR's and the freebie.

I'm gonna have to take Zoe's side in this matter....Hoover? Really?
LOL!
Poor Montana is teething...get him a huge rawhide bone. Lad and his sister managed to tear up the screen porch when they were young...it's now an open air porch! I'm in favor of cats...they don't chew everything in site! (well, there are the claws....but nobody notices the sofa is shredded on the back...I hope!

Carolyn,
I think the trials of your dog and cat are just way too funny. I have 3 cats and one of them is just plain weird, chases straws, runs like mad through the house OH I could go on. Keep those stories coming. Great job on the stitching as well

Nancy M said...

Great story telling! But exactly the reason I will not get another puppy! LOL We dog sat Lauren's lab and have the same wood trim effect to show for it as you do!If I get another dog, it will be an adult at adoption time! I hate to hear RR disappearing, just no excuse for that.

Lynn said...

Your blog was so cute. It reminds me of our son's lab pup that they named Marley. He has chewed up everything, including the vacuum sweeper cord, the chairs, and a hole in the carpet. I haven't offered to dog sit,LOL.

Vicki in CO said...

What a hoot! I have to agree with others...I'd be suspicious of the cat! Aren't puppies special? We keep either a dog toy or a rawhide avalable for our 'baby' Murphy at all times! So far he's only chewed on a few things he shouldn't. Hopefully Montana will grow out of it.

Kathy A. said...

Oh my gosh. Montana is a handful. Hopefully he will mature soon!!!
Love the little Pom - she is just too cute.
Glad to see Lisa's RR being worked on and moving well.

Ah, I understand all that completely. I am the proud mom of two (not one) but two Jack Russell Terrors errr I mean Terriers. I know about odd socks and a towel or two. We have toys for them but no they favor human related articles. Grandson is even now searching for a mysteriously lost slipper.

Carolyn, your Hoover is just so naughty!!! : )) I have a ball addict in my house as well. Anais could walk the whole day with a ball but the thing is she chews down on it and eventually it gives and we have to take it away to avoid blockages should she swallow the pieces. Your cat is certainly not impressed with that Hoover power house. Hie hie!! How can people keep other people's RR's. Its infuriating!!! Pretty stitching Carolyn. ; )
Hugs

That is just too funny... more reasons why its better to be a cat person!!!

Great job on getting that RR going again, and lovely finish too!

ROFL I can totally relate! I swear Shih Tzus are just big furry gerbils!! I have had the same problems and even on my furniture. The teething stage is also a patience state for us...until they stop! Love the stitching! I have never been a part of a RR...maybe one day.

Dogs... sometimes you love 'em and sometimes you want to choke 'em. One of ours is a hole digger and the other one is sure to follow. Watch, in a day or two Montana will do something that will just melt your heart.I'm pressuming right now though he is still in the 'dog' house! LOL!

Your furbabies are so cute and pretty! Love your stitching, it is just awesome!

Gabi said...

Awww.....that's too cute. He ruined his love blankie? Are you sure it was him? Any proof? It might have been the cat. Look at that innocent eyes of poor Montana. Btw...our Lucy has a sexy blanket too...don't ask either...LOL.
On a different note, we prevented our dogs to go on a ruin spree by having a dog kennel (cage) for them. Where they spend first all time when we couldn't be with them...like when we were gone out shopping or during the night. Later only the night...and then leaving it open while getting dog used to a new "bed" They tend to love their cage by then as their bed.
What the puppy doesn't do the grown up dog won't do either. Preventing is the key. Lucy still has to spend the nights in it because she ruins and pees during night - may be not anymore...but we give it in her case a full year before we try again.

And Montana scored himself a great gf. Little Mya is adorable.

Love your stitching. The hearts are adorable and also the color changes for the tree. Looks very autumn like and beautiful

That dog "Hoover" is so cute and the mischief is just so funny, they all that is kids and pets grow up so quickly. Love your blog.

I am laughing just a bit too hard as I know what you are going through. don't worry, Montana will get there but it does take a bit longer than you want for sure. Our Romo is 1.5 years and just stopped chewing and destroying everything he comes in contact with! LOL Zoe is precious in that pic. The look on her face looks like she is in total shock at what Montana is doing! LOL, love it! Your little house guest is too cute too!

Your stitching is looking fantastic!!!

Ha! You just gave me flashbacks from when our Lhasa gnawed on every corner, cabinet, door.....bless you girl!

Hate to hear someone has kept any RRs!! Honestly!! How do people live with themselves?? So nice of you guys starting over on Lisa's and I hope she gets this one back!
Love your freebie stitch! Great colors:)

You know Golden's are puppies until they are about 2, don't you?

My sister's chewed off the window sill one day. Yep, my BIL had to replace the sill, some studs, siding, all of it...

But they loved that dog and were heartbroken when he died.

But Montana has not been framed! How dare anyone suggest that Zoe would ever do such a thing? Anyone can see what a well behaved cat she is!

Puppies... they have to much energy and are getting bored to quickly. Dog Whisperer is putting them on a tread mill...

The stitching looks great as always.

Hi Carolyn,
Our Nell has a towel that we used for her when she was a pup, shes only 6 months now, she drags that towel with her to a favourite place in our dining room and lies on it. She has chewed holes in it and when I wash it and peg it out she tries to get it off the line!
We have stopped her chewing other things by putting them out of her reach, but bot until she had got my £315 glasses, a bag, several balls, pegs, table mats(yes she can get up on the table if we don't put the chairs under the table!) a pair of my slippers, a pair of sandals and various socks, all gone!!But we still love her!

Been there before. Can relate to babysitting, 4 years ago we kept granddaughters pomeranian for the weekend and she is still with us. I guess she's ours now. LOL

Carolyn said...

LOL First of all, I love your stitching! It's great, as always.

Secondly, I'm cracking up and can TOTALLY relate with your doggie stories. When my mom passed away we "luckily" inherited her 8 year old lab. Don't EVEN get me started, but suffice it to say that the last thing he had for "dinner" was the BRAND NEW CORD off of my BRAND NEW LAPTOP, of which cost me $89.00 to replace. What is wrong with this picture? We so graciously take this heathen in, and he eats everything but his food? hhmmm....I should make a long post on my blog about him. Nobody would believe it - except other dog owners! LOL

He is a cutie, tho! Gotta love 'em!

Hugs,
Carolyn (the other one)
