Verification and Other Sundry Items

Word Verification - to verify or not to verify; that is the question. Nancy M recently posted about this and the comments were very interesting. I agree with her view; I dislike WV. Now please don't inundate me with outraged or defensive replies; I'm not saying there's no need for WV. This is totally self-centered here - it takes me forever to reply to blogs when I have to fill in WV or worse yet, it pops up after I've posted and moved on, only to lose the comment.

I know that some of you have been hit with spammers. I originally had my WV turned on and when a friend questioned why - I thought I was supposed to. I turned it off then and never looked back. Could be famous last words, but C'est la vie. It doesn't stop me from commenting on a blog, just takes longer. I comment because I want to, so I'll continue going through WV. But I'm interested in what others think, and if a by-product is that someone's WV is turned off, all the better! -BEG-

On to stitching, I have Zentangle pt. 8 done.

I also would like to post another new design I found. I promise that Jan has nothing to do with her pics on my posts; I just love her designs. Here's the latest from Tree of Life Samplings.

I think this one is my new favorites...and yes, I'm ordering it as we speak. LOL

One last thing - I read one of the sweetest posts around; it has a giveaway, but that's not why I'm posting it here. It brought tears to my eyes; check it out - Jolene's blog. If you take the time to read the comments too, you'll be doubly blessed. :)

I had my word verification off untill I started getting spam comments ~ in Japanese no less. I had to turn it on to get rid of it. :o(

I didn't know I had it on mine either - I'm still such a newbie at this.... I went and turned mine off - I don't really care about it. I guess that if I start getting a bunch of spam I'll revisit, if not... meh.

Zentangle is looking great - and the new stash? Love it!

I don't like WV either. I turned mine off months ago and have never had a problem. Guess even the spammers find my blog boring!

Love the sampler...will have to check that out. Great progress on your WIP.

I just love the ray of colors you have in the upper picture, and the tree sampler is cute

Ray of Colors is certainly dynamic with color, so lovely and great progress!!

I haven't had the WV turned on since shortly after starting my blog. Need to make sure my other one doesn't have it, I know how annoying it can be!

Dang it. I had written my comment and Oreo stepped on the keyboard and I lost it! Dang cat!

I don't know if WV is turned on for my blog, but guess I'll check it out.

Love that new chart 'New Mercies.' I e-mailed to order it as well.

Word verification- I know sometimes I have trouble figuring out the word and getting it typed right. But it does serve a purpose.

Love the new pattern! And Zentangle looks like a lot of fun.

Zentangle is looking great! I didn't know you could turn off WV and so when I read this and then flipped to Nancy's site I went in and changed mine. Thanks for the education!

I think I have WV on my blog, it was a standard setting, but I do agree, those things can get difficult on me when trying to leave a comment on someone's blog

WV - ok, so I'll turn it off to see if anything crazy happens. Guess I thought it was 'the norm', but maybe there aren't spammers out there just waiting to attack ;-).
Z is coming along beautifully. Are you caught up?

Zentangle is looking gorgeous.

WV was set to on automatically at my blogs :)

Nancy M said...

Glad you thought my post about WV was worthy of a visit on your blog! I haven't had any spamming yet, and I like that between you and me we have gotten some other blogs we visit to turn it off!! How many parts does Z have??? It's just gorgeous!

I use WV to keep spammers and undesirables at bay. I think there's something wrong with blogger WV because everytime I leave a comment with WV it never takes the first time around. So I wait until I get the error message and then re-enter the WV. Then it usually works.

Nice progress on your WIP.

Lovely progress on your Zentangel. And that new design is looking wonderful.
I agree with you with WV. I dislike it a lot. It takes so much time away when one's time on the net is limited already. After all I would like to do some stitching or sewing done.
And even if getting a spammer, that wouldn't be such a big deal. There is always that handy delete button. If I get heaps of spam, I'll put the WV on, but until now I'm spam free and have my blog now longer then a year without WV

Pretty colors in Zentangle, can't wait to see more! :)

WV is a pain at times, and I don't like having it on my blog. I do, though, because it's the lesser of the evils. Who has time to deal with spammers - just head 'em off at the pass. :D

Thanks for the lead on Tree of Life, Carolyn! I love the piece and the words as much as you do. Reminds me of sitting in church as a child with my grandmother.

Great job on your Zentangle progress! Love the colors!!! WV can be annoying, but spammers are too? Darned if you do, darned if you don't!
