In Memory of a Little One

In a world of ever advancing technology, some view the computer as evil, some good. I've had experiences with both sides. But with the touch of a keyboard, I can communicate across the world to someone I would never meet normally and form friendships based on mutual hobbies, careers, beliefs, etc. While it's a different kind of friendship, I consider it a part of my life that is affirming, helpful, and valuable. People come and go, but there are those who still touch you, if only for a brief moment. I am saddened by news received in one of my internet XS groups. A member lost her three year-old son to cancer today (recently diagnosed).
Nici, our hearts cry for you, though we don't know each other very well. Prayers and thoughts from all over the world are with you. May God grant you comfort and peace.
In memory of Felix.

I agree 100% Carolyn. I have made some really close friends that I probably will never meet in person but I feel like they live just next door.
My heart goes out to Nici and by reading the emails today I know I'm not alone. Felix is in a better place now with no pain and it's his mother, brother and extended family that needs us now to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

I agree with you too Carolyn. I sometimes wonder what I did with my spare time before groups and blogging updates!! Probably a lot more stitching! So sad for Nici too, but having online friends I am sure is comforting to her at this time.

I've seen both sides, good and evil. It's just like the real world... There are good people and I've made friends with a lot of people via the internet. Then there are the evil ones, like predators who then bring it to real life and end up being stalkers are pedofiles. :( I know if it weren't for the online stitching groups, I wouldn't get as many projects done because until recently, I didn't know anyone who stitched. So kudos to the online stitching world!! :D

Could not have said it any better.

I will also add my agreement. I had been away from stitching for probably 15 years or so...the changes that have been brought about by the internet are amazing. There are the online shopping opportunities, the opportunities to print patterns you find on line, the ability to look up tips, etc. BUT, I wouldn't know of all of these if not for the stitching groups.

I don't have local friends who are into stitching. I do have friends and family who (kind of) appreciate the end result, but they don't "get" what it takes to get there. Having people to cheer you on, console you when "kermit" comes to visit, and to give you suggestions (and yes, to enable) is invaluable!!
